Hong Kong – 4.6 percent, cools from July’s 6.3% which was highest in a decade on food, rental costs
Korea – 5.6 percent, down first time in 6 months
Malaysia – 8.5 percent (July), steepest rise since 8.5% Dec 1981
Philippines – 12.5 percent in August, 17 year-high
Singapore - 6.4 percent – housing costs rose an annual 12.8% in August on higher electricity tariffs and rents while food prices jumped 8.4%
Taiwan – 4.78 percent, down from July’s 14-year high at 5.9%
Thailand – 6.4 percent – fell from last month’s 10year high
Vietnam – 28.3 percent in August, highest level in 17 years (driven by price increases in food, transportation, housing and construction materials) The inflation rate was 27% in July, 26.8% in June, and 25.2% in May.
